U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reported that as of April 15, 2010, it has received approximately 13,600 H-1B petitions for Fiscal Year 2011 (start date October 1, 2010). There is an annual cap of 65,000 H-1B visas issued each year.

On March 9, 2010, Greece was designated as a participant in the Visa Waiver Program. This means that Greek citizens may enter the United States for up to 90 days without having to apply for a visa. As with all participants in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), those wishing to visit the US on the VWP must register for Electronic System Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to entering the United States. On December 21, 2009 U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services received enough H-1B petitions to reach the 2010 cap. Petitions received after December 21, 2009 will be rejected. Petitions received on December 21, 2009 that were subject to the cap will be selected via a computer-generated random selection process.
